Popcorn:  Thank you to all the packs and troops that participated in the popcorn sale in 2009.  A HUGE THANK YOU to Rachel Gerlach who was the District Kernal for York District this year.  Her help was greatly appreciated.  A big thank you to the folks at Hussey Seating who had the orders picked before anyone came.  Good Deal there.  York District units sold over $162,000.00 (2nd in the PTC in sales) up $18,000 or 12% from 2008 (1st in the PTC for % increase in sales).  The top three selling units in YD were: P338 – South Berwick  $15,300.00, Pack 308 – Biddeford $14,300.00 and P323 – Hollis $11,370.00 (First year selling popcorn).  With that in mind, YD units received @ $58,800.00 in total commission and the commission for the top selling unit was @ $5,300.00.  Do you know of any fundraiser that will give you that much $$$ for a ONCE a year push??  Great job to all involved.  Anything is possible with popcorn.  Thank you again for all your help.  J

Friends of Scouting:  Time is fast approaching for Pine Tree Council’s Annual Friends of Scouting (FOS) fundraising campaign.  FOS is an annual fundraising campaign that gives Scouts, their families and interested people in the community an opportunity to contribute to the financial support of the council.  This fundraising campaign helps support the council in the following ways: camp maintenance, keep camp registration fees low, organizing new units, servicing existing units, maintaining service center including records, information and support staff, and support for professional staff.  Tony Fleurent will be the 2010 Family Friends of Scouting Chairman and he can be reached at 284-1586 or me2or@yahoo.com to schedule your unit’s family presentation. Please fill out the flyer available tonight.

York District Membership:  Our current membership as of 12/02/09 is 1,638 youth and 70 units.  The York District goal for 12/31/09 is 1,660 youth and 74 Units.  We need to add @ 22 new youthCurrently our membership looks like this: CS 1,125 (1,071 in 2008 UP 54 CS), BS 500 (521 in 2007 down 21 BS), Venturing 7 (10 in 2008 down 3 Venturers) and Exploring 12 (down 45 Explorers from 2008).  Please make sure your rosters are complete and ALL applications have been sent into the PTC to be processed.  As a reminder, the only part of a youth or adult application the PTC needs to see is the COUNCIL COPY.  By sending only the COUNCIL COPY to the PTC, the unit has at least the UNIT COPY for your records if any questions arise about a member’s registration down the road.

Re-chartering Time for 2010:  As in the past, all troops re-charter in February and the packs in March.  The troop charters will be passed out to the commissioners in November for troops and December for packs and you will be contacted to set a date to get the re-charter paperwork to you.  Please note that in 2010 ALL re-chartering will again be done via the ON-LINE re-chartering program.  There are NO Re-chartering forms in the re-chartering packets.  A BLUE sheet listing the unit’s On-line Re-chartering Access Code is in each packet.  The On-line re-chartering is very easy, quicker and you can do it anytime of the day.  PLEASE also note that in 2010 the National Registration Fee will increase to $15.00 per person from the current $10.00 per person.  Boy’s Life will remain the same $12.00 per subscription.  The PTC will also be changing the re-chartering time frame from February for troops and March for packs to December for ALL PTC units.  That means that the 2010 re-chartering fee will be $12.50 per person (10 months) for troops and $11.25 per person (9 months) for packs as we will be short chartering all the units.  We will then re-charter again in December 2010 for all units to get every unit in the December re-chartering timeframe.  Your commissioners or district executive will work with you on this change over.  You will still have to print out the final re-chartering information, have it signed by your charter organization and unit leader.  After all that is done, it must be passed into the PTC Service Center with the proper money due.

University of Scouting 2010:  Please mark your 2010 calendars, for Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Central Maine Community College (CMCC) in Auburn, ME for the 2010 PTC University of Scouting.  This will be a great time to expand your scouting knowledge on all levels of involvement.  It is also a great opportunity for new leaders to get information on how to excite our scouts and themselves about our scouting program.  It is open to all leaders, committee members and parents.  Watch the PTC website for the registration form and catalog of classes.

Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah and Happy New Year!! Thank You for all the work you do for the Scouting Program in York District.  See you in 2010.

Our next Roundtable will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the Sanford High School starting at 7:00 PM.  With the Roundtables operating separately, your unit will want to have representatives to be in each Roundtable area (Cub Scout/Boy Scout) and Cub Scout program level (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos). Hope to see you there! Thank you for all you do for the Scouts in York District!
